Oddballs Come Back Late, Nip Barons
|
The Birmingham Barons got a sterling performance from pitcher D.J. Newton, but the Ottawa Oddballs still prevailed, 3-2. Newton threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Christopher Sexton earned his 3rd save in 4 tries. The victory gives the Oddballs a record of 79-42.
Ottawa used a clutch hit from Judah Weller to get the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Oddballs ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We're one win closer to our goal," Weller said in postgame remarks.
