Giants Thrill Fans with 6-5 Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a superb performance from pitcher Merlin Peres, but the San Francisco Giants still won the game, 6-5. Peres threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. San Francisco reliever Luther Diamond picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Mal Tanner was saddled with the loss. The Giants improve their record to 22-24 with the win over St. Louis.
San Francisco won the game in the bottom of the 13th inning. With one out and Mal Tanner on the mound for St. Louis, left fielder Jeff Edelman hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Giants fans to their feet.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Edelman said.
