Baby Cakes Clip Wranglers, 2-1
|
The New Orleans Baby Cakes walked off with a big win.
The New Orleans Baby Cakes had to overcome a fine performance from Oklahoma City pitcher Liam Mankiewicz to grab a 2-1 win at Zephyr Field. Mankiewicz allowed 1 run over 6 innings. Kato McGuffie, now 2-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when New Orleans third baseman Sam Calder, facing Braylon Hanson, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Baby Cakes the 2-1 win.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Oklahoma City manager Woo-jin Sim.
The Baby Cakes saw their win-loss record go to 31-19. At the same time, the Wranglers fell to 25-25.
