Colorado got a big-time effort from pitcher Jonathan McLean, but it wasn't enough to keep the Fresno Falcons from winning the game, 5-3. McLean threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The second-place Falcons lifted their record to 34-19.

One of the clutch hits for Fresno came from one of their biggest talents. In the top of the ninth with no one out, Eric Alvares, who is on pace for 89 RBI this season, hit a 2-run home run to put the Falcons up, 4-3. For the game, the first baseman was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Alvares told the Fresno Gazette.
