|
Wilbur Bruggman had a big hand in Lakewood's 9-6 triumph over Hickory. He rattled off 3 hits in 3 at-bats, scoring 1 times and knocking in 2 runs. Maurício Bojorquez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 5-3. Lee Hege picked up the save for Lakewood, his 12th of the year.
In the bottom of the seventh, with a runner on 3rd, Bruggman strode to the plate. He got a 1-0 sinker from Monfre Gómez and hit a run-scoring double. The clutch hit put the BlueClaws in front, 7-6.
"We got the victory," said Bruggman. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
Today's win puts Lakewood at 54-62, while Hickory falls to 63-53.
