Sounds Collect 4-3 Win Over Goldeyes
|
The Nashville Sounds outlasted the Winnipeg Goldeyes in an extra-inning thriller.
The Nashville Sounds took Winnipeg pitcher Maurice Assou's best shot and still were able to claim a win at NBT Bank Stadium. The final score had Nashville getting past the Goldeyes, 4-3. Assou went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 9. Jeff Hickam, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save.
Nashville used a clutch hit from Gerardo Campos to get the win. The left fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Sounds ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Winnipeg manager Tyler Weatherwax.
The Sounds now have a mark of 60-50.
