Fresno starter Victor Kennedy kept the Virginia hitters in check, helping his team cruise to a win, 9-2. Kennedy, the winner, moves to 7-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up no walks. The Black Bears, now 19-36, have lost 5 straight.

The Falcons got an important contribution from center fielder Everett Hardin, who in the bottom of the third punched a 1-0 fastball into center for a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Falcons ahead, 4-0.

"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Jacob Crenshaw.
