Reds Come Up Short at San Francisco, 4-3
|
D.J. Boucher did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Cincinnati Reds from losing, 4-3, to the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. Boucher went 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. San Francisco reliever Luther Diamond picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Dean Crozier took the loss. Neil Dunn was credited with the save for San Francisco, his 3rd of the season.
Zavier Austin went 1-3 for San Francisco. The 25-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Dean Crozier. It was his 21st RBI of the season.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Austin told the San Francisco Citizen.
At 29-28, the Giants claim 4th place in the Western Region Northwest Division.
