The Charleston RiverDogs soundly defeated the Hickory Crawdads, 12-1, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. Tommy Giboney, who is tied for 10th in the SAL in total bases with 224, let his bat do the talking. He was 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for Charleston. The win gives Charleston a season record of 69-63.
Terry Borrero went 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs for Charleston. The 21-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring single off Tony Bendo. It was his 127th hit of the season.
"We took a roundhouse punch to the chin," said losing manager Dan Galli.
