Black Bears Zap Spikes, 2-1
|
Bowman Field hosted a real pitchers' duel.
In a well-pitched game between the West Virginia Black Bears and the State College Spikes, pitcher Randall Marshall was superb. The West Virginia left-hander helped his team win, 2-1. Marshall picked up the win for West Virginia, going 5.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3.
West Virginia relied on the hitting of Darren Minor to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Black Bears on top, 2-0. For the game, Minor had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I was able to get good plays made behind me," Marshall said. "And I was able to make pitches when I needed to make pitches."
The loss makes State College 46-21.
