D.J. Alloway was instrumental in his team's 8-5 triumph over the Portland Hops. The right fielder was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Cincinnati Reds. Cincinnati reliever Briggs Bolin picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. John Burns took the loss. Andrés Velasco earned save number 17 this season.

The result might have been different, had it not been for Frank Lambert, the Cincinnati center fielder. Lambert had a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Reds ahead, 5-4. For the game, Lambert had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Cincinnati manager Dave Lockett.

The win puts the Reds at 32-31, while the Hops drop to 24-39.
