Spoonbills Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
|
The Hollywood Spoonbills are one game away from a sweep after beating the visiting West Palm Beach Dolphins, 6-2, at Roger Dean Stadium today. Spoonbills right-hander Randall Mullin had a standout performance in which he threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. Hollywood now holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Regional Championship Series.
Mullin was in the zone all game. He frustrated West Palm Beach hitters while giving the Spoonbills 5 innings of quality work. Mullin threw 76 pitches, allowing 3 hits and getting 11 punchouts.
"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Hollywood Spoonbills (probably) 2052 R Championship Series Champions'," Mullin told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Roger Dean Stadium in Hollywood.
