Tigers Topple Falcons, 7-5

The Detroit Tigers picked up a win at Savemart Center, knocking off the Fresno Falcons, 7-5. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander Tommy Nickerson, who played a pivotal role in the win. Nickerson went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 5-4. Joshua Rusch earned the save, his 17th.
Detroit used the bat of Will Dishman to get the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Tigers ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Dishman.
The Tigers saw their win-loss record go to 39-37. At the same time, the Falcons fell to 49-27.
