Rangers Get Close Win Over Indians, 5-4
|
The Texas Rangers beat the Cleveland Indians, 5-4, in part because of third baseman Sebastian Carsten. He went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times. The win was credited to Elias Lafontaine in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Easton Wilson took the loss. Bobby Walker recorded the save, making him 11 for 13.
Jeremy McCray, the 29-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. McCray contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Texas up, 5-4.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," McCray told the Texas News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
With the win, Texas has a record of 25-61. Cleveland falls to 48-38.
