The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Fresno Falcons, 7-5, at Best Buy Ballpark today. Leading the charge for Pittsburgh was designated hitter Dan Crain. He went 3-3 with 2 triples, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The Pirates sit in 5th place in the Eastern Region Great Lakes Division with a record of 49-58.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Lucas Mills didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Fresno trailing 6-5, Mills retired José Ángel Ayon to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Mills, with a wink.
