Win Lifts Angels to 73-43
|
Chicago had no answer for California Angels starter Daniel Abreu, who flummoxed Cubs hitters as the Angels cruised to victory, 7-1. Abreu got the win, improving to 7-5. He allowed 4 hits and walked 0 over 6.1 innings. Abreu allowed 1 run. California now sits in first place in the Western Region Pacific Division at 73-43.
California designated hitter Wilfredo Ocanas contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a sinker into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 70th hit of the season and put the Angels ahead, 3-1.
"We've got a great group of guys," Ocanas said, "and we're having fun right now."
