Cleveland Gets 7-4 Road Win
|
The Cleveland Indians picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, knocking off the New York Yankees, 7-4. On the mound for Cleveland was right-hander Rick Van Hemert, who played a pivotal role in the win. Van Hemert got the win, improving to 10-7. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Van Hemert allowed no runs. Cleveland now sits in 4th place in the Eastern Region Great Lakes Division at 64-55.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Harrison Waite? The Cleveland right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Indians on top, 2-0. For the game, Waite had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Waite told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
