The Oakland Athletics beat the Fresno Falcons, 6-4. Oakland pitcher and Malden, Massachusetts, native Emmett Woodell led the way. Oakland is now 47-73, Fresno 59-61.

Oakland used the timely hitting of Oliver Combs to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Athletics ahead, 6-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.

"I made some pitches when I had to," said Woodell.
