The Toronto Blue Jays got a good effort from starter Erubiel Martin in defeating the Miami Marlins at Rogers Centre. The final score was 1-0. Homer Covarrubias earned the save for Toronto, his 15th of the year. Toronto, at 81-43, is 11½ games up in the Eastern Region North Division.

Martin, who leaned on his changeup, allowed no runs on just 2 hits over 7 innings for the Blue Jays. For the most part, Miami hitters were simply overmatched.

"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Martin told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
