Blue Jays Stymie Cleveland, Take 4-0 Win
|
The Toronto Blue Jays got a good effort from starter Alfonzo Jiménez in defeating the Cleveland Indians at Tecumseh Field. The final score was 4-0. Jiménez, now 14-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Homer Covarrubias recorded his 17th save for Toronto.
Connor Thomas, the 23-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Thomas contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Toronto up, 1-0.
"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Thomas. "The only team that can beat us is us."
With the win, the Blue Jays have a record of 84-45.
