St. Louis Loses, 6-2, to Houston in 12
|
The Houston Astros beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-2, in 12 innings. Houston pitcher and Dallas, Texas, native Jack Wright led the way. With the win, Houston has a record of 59-74. St. Louis falls to 72-61.
Houston used the timely hitting of Ray Mallory to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Astros on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Big win," said Mallory.
