RubberDucks Cut Down Ravens, 9-3
|
The Akron RubberDucks defeated the New Haven Ravens, 9-3, at The Ballpark at Jackson. Akron shortstop Gage Timko had a superb performance. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Serra Espinosa. He is now 4-5. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. Akron is now 43-45.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Berny Orellana? The Akron first baseman had a bases-clearing double in the top of the third inning to put the RubberDucks on top, 3-1. For the game, Orellana had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Timko said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
