The Somerset Patriots and Binghamton Rumble Ponies played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies got a sterling performance from pitcher Joshua Wathen, but the Somerset Patriots still prevailed, 2-1. Wathen threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. Ben Kessel picked up the save, his 10th.

Sebastian Aguilar, who is tied for 10th in the EL in triples with 5, helped out the Somerset cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 4.

"I was a little disappointed," said Binghamton manager Jimmy Kohler. "We could've and should've scored more runs."

The 5th-place Patriots improved to 45-48.
