Blaze Come Back Late to Top Nuts, 5-4
|
The Blaze grabbed a win, 5-4, at John Thurman Field, overcoming a fine effort from Modesto pitcher Joshua Natvig. Natvig went 5 innings and allowed 4 runs. Santos Porras earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4 innings. His record is now 2-0. Spenser Lawson finished to wrap up his 8th save.
Bakersfield used the bat of Jason Gonzalez to capture the win. The catcher jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Blaze ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Bakersfield manager Brian O'Kray. "It's usually not just one thing."
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Bakersfield.
