Clearwater Beats Daytona Beach, 3-1
|
The Clearwater Threshers topped the Daytona Beach Hurricanes, 3-1, with youngster Van Bowman playing a key role. Bowman was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Threshers in the win. Zach Johnson closed it out for his 3rd save. Clearwater is off to a hot start at 4-1.
Bowman contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Clearwater in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Bowman took a fastball from Jeronimo Pérez and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Threshers to leap in front, 2-1.
"Feels good to get the job done," Bowman said after the game.
