Red Sox Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Despite the rain, the fans at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium enjoyed a good ballgame.
The Salem Red Sox picked up a win at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium, knocking off the Tampa Tarpons, 4-3. Starting pitcher Beau de Zeeuw played a key role in the triumph. Rick Nitti got credit for the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Salem third baseman Holger Mutonyi, facing Juan Santiago, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Red Sox the 4-3 win.
"This game had its share of tense moments," de Zeeuw said, postgame.
Even with the win, the Red Sox have a dismal 21-42 record.
