Woolly Mammoths Edge Past Haymakers, 6-5
The Westside Woolly Mammoths topped the Cedar Rapids Haymakers, 6-5, in Midwest League action at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Westside pitcher and Grand Rapids, Michigan, native Ara Lester. Westside reliever Ricky Ibarra was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Bobby DeVries. Dustin Cuella earned the save for Westside, his 3rd of the year.

The outcome might have been different for Westside, had it not been for Tony Breaux, the 21-year old second baseman . Breaux stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Westside up, 6-5. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.

"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Breaux told the Westside Gazette.

With the win, Westside elevates its record to 6-13.
