3-1 Win Takes Expos to 9-5
|
The Toronto Blue Jays got a sterling performance from pitcher Kevin Alessandroni, but the Montreal Expos still prevailed, 3-1. Alessandroni threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Russell Coe notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Mason McKinney got credit for the save for Montreal. It was his 1st of the year.
The Expos had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Montreal, with one out. Toronto, with a runner on 2nd, was mounting a threat. Atlas Alvarado dug in at the plate, but on a full count fastball, he grounded out.
Montreal, now 9-5, has played well in the early going.
