In a tight game between the Kannapolis Intimidators and the Jonesboro Growlers, pitcher Stewie Asher was terrific on the mound. The Kannapolis left-hander helped his team to the 2-0 win. Asher, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Picking up the save was Cortéz De La Cruz, his 1st.
The Intimidators got a big at-bat from left fielder Roydrick Dostie. For the game, Dostie went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Kannapolis a 2-0 lead.
"I had a good game," said Dostie. "Winning makes it even better."
