On Road, Power Top RiverDogs, 4-2
|
The Charleston RiverDogs got a superb performance from pitcher Mike Peck, but the West Virginia Power still won the game, 4-2. Peck threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Todd Layne came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 4-0. Jeremiah McGarth finished to wrap up his 11th save.
West Virginia used a clutch hit from Derek Chang to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Power ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Nice, tidy little win," Chang said after the game.
West Virginia is now 19-21.
