Hot Rods Rally For 1-0 Win
|
The Bowling Green Hot Rods had to overcome a fine effort from Augusta pitcher Mike Young to grab a narrow 1-0 win at Bowling Green Ballpark. Young went 8.1 innings and allowed no runs. Bowling Green reliever Keith Shea picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Daniel Byrd absorbed the loss. Bowling Green is in 4th place in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division with a record of 30-28.
With the game on the line, Heath Lyons came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. And the Bowling Green second baseman came through, cracking a run-scoring single off Daniel Byrd, the Augusta pitcher.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Lyons.
