With third baseman Beau Koss leading the charge, the Vancouver Cascades defeated the San Francisco Giants, 8-1, at Royal Port Stadium. Koss, who is tied for 4th in the WEST with a .652 slugging percentage, went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Vancouver reliever Julius Poole was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Kyle Murphy took the loss for San Francisco. The Giants, now 6-11, continue their sluggish start.

Lawrence Carla dealt the Giants a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with a runner on 2nd and Vancouver leading 2-1, Carla, who finished 2nd in the WEST in runs with 105 last year, hit a 1-0 sinker for a run-scoring single.

"This game will humble you real quick," said San Francisco manager Pat Black.
