Red Sox Lose, 6-1, at Citi Field
|
New York picked up a win at Citi Field, bumping off the Boston Red Sox, 6-1. Pitcher Yoandry Santiago was a major reason the Mets emerged victorious. Santiago got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 5 hits and walked 4 over 7.1 innings. Santiago allowed 1 run. The Red Sox, now 7-12, continue their inauspicious start.
The Mets got a big at-bat from shortstop Enrique Reyna. For the game, Reyna was 3-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave New York a 3-1 lead.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Santiago, "and go after the next one."
