Chiefs Stay Hot with Extra-Inning Win
|
Colin Pyron never let the Black Bears get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Chiefs to a win, 2-1. Victor Vásquez was called on to finish, recording his 10th save. The Chiefs now have a record of 19-7 with the win over West Virginia.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Brian Gaudreault came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing West Virginia pitcher Yanly Concepcion, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Wenatchee on top, 2-1.
"I liked his command," said Wenatchee manager Aaron Lambert. "Colin was throwing strikes."
