Expos Losing Streak at 5 After Extra-Inning Loss to Yankees
|
The New York Yankees beat the Montreal Expos, 7-4, at Olympic Stadium. The Yankees got a fine performance from second baseman Dave Herbster, who went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Emmet Bayless notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now sits at 1-2. With the loss, Montreal is 11-11.
Evan Dankowski had the most critical at-bat for New York. With one in the top of the tenth inning, Dankowski hit a 1-2 slider from Justin Ayer for a run-scoring single. It put New York in front, 5-4.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Herbster. "Those qualities define our team."
