NC Announces Best Player Award

He may have less experience than most of his International League peers, but that didn't slow Rogelio Gardea down at all in 2003.
At the age of 23, the Ottawa third baseman has been named the winner of the North Conference Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .287 batting average and a .383 on-base percentage this year. In 129 games he piled up 140 hits, 19 doubles, 1 triple, 37 home runs, 102 RBIs and 94 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 16. Aydan Rivard of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Luis Alanis of the Pawtucket Red Sox finished third.
