Red Sox Flog Rangers, 21-2
|
The Boston Red Sox knocked the living daylights out of the Texas Rangers, 21-2, at Globe Life Field. Boston right fielder Alex Verdugo was productive at the plate. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5. Boston reliever Ryan Weber picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Edinson Volquez shouldered the loss. With the victory, the Red Sox upped their record to 24-21.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Andrew Benintendi? The Boston left fielder had a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 3-1. For the game, Benintendi had 1 double and 3 singles in 7 at-bats.
Texas manager Mike Piellucci said his team was "out of sync."
