Rays Lose to Red Sox, 5-2

The home crowd had a good time watching the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox get after it.
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Tampa Bay Rays, 5-2, in American League action at Fenway Park. Boston pitcher Martin Perez had a standout performance. Perez got the win, improving to 6-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 8.2 innings. Perez allowed 2 runs.
Alex Verdugo had a big 2-run triple for the Red Sox in the bottom of the first inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a slider from Corey Kluber and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Red Sox ahead, 3-0.
Verdugo told a Boston Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The triumph puts Boston at 27-22 for the season.
