Nationals Prevail, 4-3, Over Miami
|
Fans watched the Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins fight to the finish.
The Washington Nationals topped the Miami Marlins, 4-3, in National League action at Nationals Park. The standout performance belonged to Washington pitcher and St. Louis, Missouri, native Max Scherzer. Will Harris recorded the save for Washington, his 12th of the season.
In the bottom of the sixth, Washington shortstop Trea Turner put his team on top. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit his 2nd triple of the year. Miami pitcher Caleb Smith served it up. Just like that, the Nationals were ahead, 3-2.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Scherzer.
The National League East Division-leading Nationals are 31-18.
