Astros Deal Red Sox 6-3 Defeat
|
Houston and Boston duked it out and the Astros came out victorious.
Houston starter Zack Greinke had a strong outing against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-3 win. Greinke, now 4-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Joe Smith, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.
Houston used a well-timed hit by Martin Maldonado to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Astros ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"We did a lot of things right," said Maldonado.
With the win, Houston pushed its record to 32-20.
