6-2 Win by Nationals Continues Hot Start
|
San Francisco got a terrific performance from pitcher Kevin Gausman, but it wasn't enough to beat the Washington Nationals. Washington won the Oracle Park contest, 6-2. Gausman threw 5 innings of 1-hit ball for the losing team. Tanner Rainey recorded the save for Washington, his 1st of the season. The Nationals, now 19-8, have been red hot.
Washington used a timely hit from Juan Soto to get the win. The left fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Nationals ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
In postgame comments to the Washington Observer, Soto said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
