5-Hit Game for Jones Saturday, September 5th, 2020 Greg Jones was at the head of a Down East hit parade today at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The center fielder went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Wood Ducks to a 19-4 victory over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Jones told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Pelicans skipper said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Greg Jones singled in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Posting a .427 batting average to date, Jones has 4 home runs and 36 RBIs. |
