The LC and I have recently discussed the issue of a salary cap. The gap between the teams with the highest budgets and everyone else has grown increasingly wide in the last several seasons, and is impacting the competitiveness and fun of the rest of the league. To provide for a more even playing field, we propose implementing a salary cap.
Details will need to be worked out if the poll passes, but a basic outline:
-Advance notice (to be implemented for the 2026 season)
-Tax on payroll as well as miscellaneous player expenses (so you can't release an expensive player and avoid paying tax on him)
-Luxury tax style, with progressive brackets (as per MLB)
-Penalties including taxes and/or loss of draft picks (as per MLB)
