Mets Take Down Giants, 8-5
|
Dan Corbin was a major contributor to the 8-5 New York win over San Francisco. The Mets third baseman went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. New York reliever Joe Doro was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Mike Mills. New York, now 18-11, has played well in the early going.
New York used the timely hitting of Rob Stewart to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Mets on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Corbin said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
