Cyclones Fall to ValleyCats, 2-1
|
The Tri-City ValleyCats racked up a win at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, bumping off the Brooklyn Cyclones, 2-1. Alex Twitchell, who started for Tri-City, pitched effectively for his team. Tri-City reliever Ben Fletcher snagged the win, upping his record to 3-0. Jimmy Worthington shouldered the loss. Tri-City is second in the Stedler Division with a record of 16-12.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Doug Andrus came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Brooklyn pitcher Jimmy Worthington, he hit a 0-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Tri-City on top, 2-1.
"The ValleyCats earned it," said Brooklyn manager Johnathan Frebis. "Hats off to them."
