ValleyCats Reel In 3-2 Win
|
The Lowell Spinners got a superb performance from pitcher Mike Widener, but the Tri-City ValleyCats still won the game, 3-2. Widener threw 7.1 innings allowing 3 runs. The ValleyCats, at 28-28, sit in third place in the Stedler Division.
Had Juan Trujillo not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Trujillo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the ValleyCats.
Tri-City manager Carlos Febles commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
