Eugene Defeated by Boise, 3-0
|
The Boise Hawks downed the Eugene Emeralds, 3-0, at Memorial Stadium. Boise pitcher Zaire McCadney definitely brought his A-game. McCadney got the win, improving to 3-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed no runs. Tony Blancett closed the game out for Boise, earning his 2nd save.
The Emeralds had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Hawks going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old center fielder Sergio Lemus came to the plate. Lemus hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Eugene hurler Juan Valle. It was Lemus's 7th home run of the year.
"Zaire pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Boise manager Brandon Diaz.
With the win, the Hawks have a record of 31-39.
