Rays Snag 5-2 Win
|
The Princeton Rays faced a tough opponent in Kingsport pitcher Art Owry, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Hunter Wright Stadium by a final score of 5-2. Owry went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Princeton reliever Juan Rivera got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Zion Blakes was tagged with the loss. Jim Williams closed it out for his 4th save.
Princeton used the timely hitting of Kelyn Forsythe to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rays on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Forsythe.
The loss makes Kingsport 20-45.
