|
The Miami (GCL) Marlins got a superb performance from pitcher Chris Taylor. Still, it wasn't enough to beat St. Louis (GCL). The Cardinals won the game, 6-5. Taylor threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. Gregor Eirich, now 3-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 0. After today's action, St. Louis (GCL) sits at 14-16; Miami (GCL) slips to 20-10.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with St. Louis (GCL) trailing 5-3, Lando van den Hurk jumped on a 2-0 fastball from Eric Barnhill for a 3-run home run, sending the Cardinals to a walk-off win.
"The ending was a real humdinger," van den Hurk told reporters after the game.
