Red Sox Edge Astros, 3-2, to Open R1

The Boston (GCL) Red Sox faced a tough opponent in Houston (GCL) Astros pitcher Bobby Pichardo, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the Round 1, which they now lead 1-0. The Red Sox won, 3-2, at JetBlue Park, despite the efforts of Pichardo, who came in in relief and pitched to 20 batters.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Red Sox had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when center fielder Pat Saggio hit a 2-run double. The double came off Bobby Harwood and made the score 3-0, Red Sox. Saggio went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"You never want to start a series with a loss, but I saw a lot of good things today," Astros manager Dan Fournier said. "I'm not worrying. Yet."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Sunday, August 26th , 2035.
